" Why Should I Change for Them? "
In every passing conversation, or quiet moment of reflection, the same phrases echo
: before me
“.You’ve changed a lot”
“.You’re not the same as you used to be”
“...Even the people closest to you say the same thing”
.But the real question here isn’t when we changed
?It is: did we truly change… or were we forced to
?Did the person they speak of really disappear
Or did we simply hide them in a distant corner, away from their eyes… where no one
?could criticize them
: And the most important question of all
?Did you truly want to change
...Or are you trying to convince yourself that you’re no longer that person you once were
?because others told you that you shouldn’t be
,Sometimes, when someone says, “You’ve changed”
.it doesn’t sound like pride
.It sounds like an excuse
...An attempt to bury the old version of yourself
,not because it was wrong
.but because it wasn’t accepted
...But wait
?Who are these “others”
?And why do we grant them so much authority over our souls
?Was it really wrong to laugh too much
?To love unusual things
?To act spontaneously
?Is it shameful to be simple? Childlike? Sensitive? Too honest
?When did honesty become naivety
?And when did purity turn into weakness
.The truth we dislike admitting is that change is not always growth
.Sometimes, it is surrender
.We surrender to pressure
".We wear a mask called “maturity” or “realism
We convince ourselves we’ve evolved, when in reality we’ve only drifted away from our
.true selves
And what’s harsher still is that we begin to attack those who still resemble who we once
.were
.We blame them. We scold them. We mock them
...Not because they are wrong
but because they remind us of the version we buried
.the one we never truly made peace with
...But you
.Smile at yourself before you smile at them
.Make yourself happy. Spoil yourself
.Buy the things you love, even if they seem childish or silly in their eyes
.And if they call you crazy, let them
: Always remember
...The “crazy” ones who are sincere leave a mark
,not because they loved others more
.but because they loved themselves first
